Scenes from Scotland

A few weeks ago, I was able to spend a short couple of days in Edinburgh, Scotland, visiting a good friend of mine and doing academic stuff.  It was officially a work trip, so much of the time was spent in cafes or offices, working away at various things (yay to the British and their tea), but I did get to snap some photos--though not as many as I would have liked because, let me tell you right now, the light in Scotland is some of the most beautiful that I have ever witnessed.  It's truly, truly incredible.  And the city is amazing, too.  Squint and you can just pretty much see painted-face Scots storming through the valley to the castle, with flags flying and swords waving.  Anyways, here are some postcards from Scotland for you.

  1. Phenomenal wonderful glimpses of Scotland. So glad you were able to fit in a little bit of play in between work :)

  3. Oh, I love Edinburgh. Getting the train up there (from London, where I live) is one of my favourite things to do ever, ever, ever. Did you climb Arthur's seat? Fuck me, that's exhausting. I bought some proper fudge in a beautiful shop before I walked up it and kept on stopping for fudge breaks. It was hard getting to the top, but totally worth it.

  4. That's my city! I love living in Edinburgh, it's true that it's absolutely saturated with history and culture - the buildings are all old and beautiful, the streets are windy, there's always a hidden gem of a shop to be found.

It's lovely to be able to see it through the eyes of a tourist, makes me appreciate it all the more.
